Party for how many?!

So I decided that we should host a little happy hour tonight to kick off the Memorial Day weekend. I started the Evite and one thing led to another and there were lots of people on the list. Now usually when you have a party there are many who can't come, have other plans, etc. This especially holds true when you decide on a Tuesday to have a party on a Friday. Well, not in Korea! We are up to almost 80 people who are coming tonight. Thankfully, I asked everyone to bring a chair and an appetizer to share!! Whew! I would be freaking out right now if I hadn't!!! I am looking forward to hanging out with everyone, relaxing and enjoying the night! If you are in the area, stop in by (but remember to bring a chair and something to eat!!!)

So, here is my lame excuse....whenever I go to the blog page, it is always set up in Korean and I just haven't sat down and pushed all the buttons to figure out how to get it in English...that is the truth as lame as it sounds!!! Now that I know how to get it in English I am all set.

Since it has been forever since I have updated, I will just share the highlights...
- we moved from one house to another on base. The old house started having mold issues so we got out. The new house is bigger and better and we love it.
- the kids are great. Everyone has really made the adjustment here wonderfully and we couldn't be more proud of them.
- we are expanding our clan by one in November. Baby E is due on 11/25.
- we are leaving for a California vacation on 6/22 and can hardly wait. After being overseas for 12 months, there are huge desires for certain foods and shopping!!!

Well, that is it in a nutshell. I promise to be better now that I have figured this out!!

Getting settled in....

We finally moved in to our base housing on July 10th. We are living in a 4 bedroom townhouse. It has a family room, living room, dining room, kitchen and bathroom on the main floor and 4 bedrooms and two additional bathrooms upstairs. The laundry is also located on the 2nd floor which is very nice. We have a little front and backyard that will be nice once I get some flowers in the ground. As of right now we have only gotten one of our small shipments of stuff and the big shipment is still on the way. Our car is in Korea, we are just waiting for it to clear customs so we can get it. There has been rain almost everyday as we are in the middle of monsoon season. I am talking serious rain that lasts ALL DAY LONG!!!! It has been fun so far and I am sure once we are all settled it will be even better. Thanks for all of your thoughts and well wishes!!!!

Happy 4th of July!

Well, today is the 4th of July. We are planning on taking part in the base festivities which include a carnival type of thing, bounce houses, food, music and of course fireworks. The kids are finding it strange that we are in another country and will be celebrating one of our holidays, but we keep reminding them that no matter where we are in this world we are Americans and we will celebrate holidays that mean something to us. Happy 4th!!!

Hi there everyone. A quick update to let you all know that we made it to Seoul and are getting settled in. We were offered a house yesterday and will move in on July 10th. It is a 4 bedroom townhouse style home and has a nice front and back yard. The kids are all registered for school and we are just learning the ropes. Tonight I am going out with Chris and some people from his office and we are having our new Korean housekeeper watch the kids...Miss Kim! I am so excited to have her and the kids are looking forward to knowing her better too. Once we get in our house I will update you with more information and details about the trip...some were pretty funny!!!

Monday is the big day. The movers are supposed to show up around 9am and begin this monumental task of packing us up. Monday is our 1000 lbs express shipment, Tuesday is the 8750 lbs household shipment and then the rest of the stuff will go into storage and that will happen Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. By Friday night I am going to need a serious drink!!! I have been busy this week sorting and organizing things for the movers, but still feel like I have so much left to do. We are sending the kids to my sister/brother in laws house this weekend, so I can get a lot more done when they are not underfoot. It will all be ok.

Today was a little sad as we gave our beloved pet frog Gunther to Christopher's former kindergarten teacher to watch for us while we are gone. As soon as I put him down in her classroom I immediatly wanted to cry. It was just the first of many goodbyes that I don't want to make.

My friends are having a goodbye luncheon for me and another one of my friends who is also moving on Tuesday. I am going to sneak away from the movers for a few hours to enjoy the time with my friends. It will be nice but sad too!

Well, I may update this as time permits but if not, the next time you hear from me I very well may be in Korea!! YIKES!!!!

10 days and counting until the movers come.....

I am trying to not go crazy but this is getting a little harder each day!!! We have 10 days until the movers come and start to pack up our lives. In some ways I think it should get easier each time, but it never does. The kids are starting to stress a little and Peter, while he has no real clue what is going on, has been acting a little out of sorts too. It will all be ok though...just need to push through!

Our adventure is about to begin....

Welcome to our family's blog...The Escamilla's Big Adventure! As most of you know, on June 25th we will be leaving the USA and moving to Seoul, South Korea for two years. We are all excited, nervous and anxious about this big change to our lives. Right now though, we are all consumed with the movers coming in 11 days! Since we are only allowed to bring about 8500lbs of "stuff" with us, it has become quite an ordeal going through things, sorting things out and making decisions on what stays and what goes. It is all coming together though.
